Three other CDs for sale. "More compression." That's what Tom Taber hears from the band while they review the live recordings, prior to release. So, the good news is that these CDs have high standards. The even better news is that there's enough Morells/Skeletons music here to choke an iPod or two. And that's progress, since all through the late 90s, so much of this music was out of print, I had to send web site visitors to used CD sites, in search of In the Flesh, or Shake and Push. "Coyote Club, Wichita, probably 1979 or 80, when their lineup included that Ozark Mountain Daredevils guy. The Coyote stayed open until 2 a.m. This particular Saturday night, however, was when daylight savings time ended, so at 2:00 it became 1:00. So we got another energetic set - they played from 10:00 until 3:00 a.m.- including breaks."

"My favorite Morells memory is one particular night at KC's old Parody Hall,circa 1980-81. The second-story dance floor was literally swaying to the beat, and I'm thinking, if it falls, at least I'll die happy. The band harmonizing on Psychedelic Situation, Wepp (Boy Go Wash Your Breath) and more. The best moment, though, (which I have documented on a tinny tape) is when, on the encore, they lurched from Folsom Prison Blues to Blitzkreig Bop.I contend they are the only band capable of doing it that well."

Remember the old Parody Hall in Kansas City? The Morells played there in the early 80s. I snapped this shot while driving by this summer, my only reasoning being a sense of duty to capture history before it's torn down or turned into a Pizza Hut.
